Hotel Empire started in 1966 as a family partnership business. Today, the group is a leading chain of restaurants and hotels spread across Bangalore, India.
It transformed into a Private Limited Company since 1st of April, 2012.
Nicknamed as the “Taste of Bangalore”, Empire restaurants are the most sought after eateries in the Garden City, particularly with the late night crowd. These restaurants have gone from strength to strength, thanks to the unrelenting patronage and support from the people of Bangalore famous for their penchant for mouth watering and sumptuous food. The management has always been keen to take care of the individual tastes and preferences of each of its valuable patrons.
Hotel Empire took a remarkable turn in terms of service and business under the present management that took over in the early Eighties. The restaurant was constantly upgraded with new services and tastier delicacies. The progress story of Empire continued, as a new prestigious venture called Hotel Empire International, on Church Street, with more than thirty aesthetically designed and furnished rooms and a spacious restaurant.
The expansion continued further with the opening of another magnificent hotel and restaurant, Empire International in the Koramangala area, the IT hub of Bangalore in 2006. Two more restaurants, Little Empire and Empire Restaurant were subsequently opened in Millers Road, Vasanth Nagar and Mosque Road, Frazer Town respectively in 2007 and 2009.
In order to cater to the premium customers, Empire opened its flagship project Empire Suites, situated in the up-market Brigade Road and MG Road area. It offers 32 cozy and luxuriously furnished apartments complimented by a top-floor swimming pool, gym and spa. The elegantly appointed studio, one and two-bedroom suites bring a high level of comfort and sophistication. Carefully chosen and coordinated accessories complement the suites.
The new Empire Restaurant on the 80 feet Road in Indiranagar is an excellent place for savouring mouth watering Empire dishes with three floors of elegant state-of-the-art interiors, exemplary space and superb ambience. And don’t forget to spoil your taste buds through the sumptuous lunch buffet on the second floor.
Empire went international with its first restaurant abroad (FOCO mode) in Dubai, UAE in November 2008. We got tremendous response as a large number of Empire fans are already in the Emirates. In November 2010, the Second branch opened in the busy area in Karama, Dubai. Plans are afoot to spread the wings of Empire to other Gulf States.
With an intention to reach our potential fans, we started in Mysore on the 2nd of November and opened for business on the 3rd. Empire in Mysore, is a complete casual dining restaurant in a fine dining atmosphere. The restaurant is located on Kalidasa Road and is housed with 4 floors and a seating capacity of 300 with a party hall at the 2nd floor. We have created a superb “homely feeling” with beautiful lighting and music. The Mysore crowd is only too happy to make Empire a way of their life.
Empire came up with another food counter in the Orion Mall food court, at Brigade Gateway, Yeshwantpur. The Gateway is promoted by the Brigade Group and comprises of World Trade Centre, Sheraton Hotel, over 1,200 Apartments, Columbia Asia Hospital, Brigade School and the Galaxy Club. The Orion Mall has a large 55,000-sq-ft food court area. The Mall also houses various International and Domestic fashion brands.
Dine with Empire all the way….! The never ending expansion of Empire is now at Maddur too..! Same taste, same quality and the same service; just a different place. One and a half hours drive from Bangalore. A beautiful garden restaurant and a landscaping that one cannot miss. Yes, Maddur has welcomed Empire with its new branch on the 12th of April with a soft opening and the response has been overwhelming.

It all started one fine day in 1966 when a non-resident Indian from Malaysia, Mr. C. Abdul Rahim rented a small place at Central Street in Shivaji Nagar to start a restaurant. Mr Rahim had a long and excellent track record in the field of catering and the restaurant was run by people hired by him.

Inherited the family business in 1982. He hired new people, brought about innovations, carefully planned and executed them to drive differential business growth. He brought Empire to what it is today with the exemplary support from his elder brother Mr. Mohammed Kunhi and younger brother Mr. Azeez.

Inherited and assisted in the family business. He played an active and critical role to drive and refine the Empire business. He is a visionary and loves challenges. His bold decision-making has been a tremendous support and strength in taking the company forward.

FOCO-Franchise is neither a Regular-Franchise nor a Venture Capitalist business model.
Before talking about FOCO-Franchise, let us look at the difference between a Regular-Franchisee and a Venture Capitalist. A regular Franchisee is a person who will invest and manage the operations with the norms of that particular brand. For this, a Franchisee fee needs to be paid along with a revenue share of a certain % every year. The Franchisor only has to provide training and product knowledge of his brand. A venture capitalist is a person who provides equity financing to companies with high growth potential. The money that a venture capitalist invests in a company is called venture capital. That investment is also returnable at a particular time in the future.
What is FOCO-Franchise.?
FOCO-Franchisee is one who invests in a brand and wants to ensure regular returns on her investments but does not want to involve herself in the business.FOCO-Franchisee is one who takes the Franchise from Empire, pays a franchisee fee and invests completely to create an efficient backend and front end infrastructure including deposits, incubation expenses, licenses, interiors, furniture, equipment, vehicles and necessary softwares etc.But, she does not interfere in the day- to- day operations and functioning of the business. The company (Empire) runs the regular operations including the recruitment and training.
Disadvantages of being a Regular-Franchise Owner.
It’s a high risk model where the probability to run into losses is high, if the Regular-Franchisee has not been guided well or does not have the right management skills. This arrangement indirectly reflects on the Brand’s name. One brand may have multiple Franchisees’ in different areas and a Franchisee who is not doing well could indirectly reflect on other Franchisees’ too.
In today’s world, investment may come through but manpower remains the biggest challenged resource, and very often the difference between a winner and losing business. The Regular-Franchisee has to be responsible for managing resources including manpower this remains his biggest challenge. Mostly, the Regular-Franchisee’s are not successful in India owing to these reasons.
Regular-Franchisee problems (Tax liabilities, law suit) may arise even without direct relations to your own branch of operation and potentially can have a direct impact on you. Growth of the business is potentially restricted by the entire Regular-Franchisee. Many decisions (without your control) like employees to hire, products to sell, services to offer, and the store layout are taken without your consultation. The upfront cost as well as the royalty payments would be higher.
Pre-established guidelines for business operation already exist which one is required to follow and not deviate from. Cost may be higher than one expects driven by initial cost of buying Regular-Franchisee, continuing management services fee and product pricesagreed by Franchisor.
